Nikwax TX Direct Spray-on 300ml

TX Direct improves equipment performance to keep you warm and dry for longer. The impregnation rebuilds the water-repellent finish in all waterproof and breathable laminates, membranes and outer fabric. TX Direct also takes care of the garment's ventilation properties.

This impregnation is super easy to use: when the garment is cleaned: just spray TX Direct directly on. We recommend the special detergent Tech Wash. The impregnation is water-based, so it is good that the garment is wet when you spray on TX Direct. You also do not need a dryer (heating) to activate the impregnation.

Most waterproof casual clothing has a water-repellent outer layer, Durable Water Repellent coating, or DWR. It is this coating that causes the water to form drops on the equipment. When functioning properly, it allows moisture to escape, while preventing water from entering.

Dirt, body fat and other contaminants can over time reduce the performance of the DWR coating, making the gear more water absorbent. If it is then washed with normal household detergents, particles that attract water and can weaken the water-repellent properties will be left behind. When the DWR coating fails, the fabric will absorb water. As a result, breathability is reduced, condensation is not released, and you get wet from the inside.

The DWR coating and breathability of waterproof garments, footwear and equipment can be restored by washing and impregnating with Nikwax finishing products. Nikwax's range is water-based and completely free of fluorocarbons. Nikwax therefore uses no harmful solvents or propellants.
